Supervision is an integral part of the ELSA model and is one of the reasons it is so successful. ELSA’s are often working with some of the most vulnerable and challenging young people in schools. In order to best support them in this role, professional supervision facilitated by Educational Psychologists will offer them space and time to reflect on and evaluate their own practice. It will also assist them in deepening their knowledge and understanding as well as developing practical approaches and accessing resources to support their work.Supervision involves meeting for two hours twice a term in a small group to:provide casework support through the application of psychological perspectivesenable additional training in areas not covered in the initial five daysdisseminate information about useful resourcesgive access to peer supportfacilitate shared problem-solvingAttending regular supervision will ensure your ELSAs are kept on the Bracknell Forest ELSA register and they will receive a practising certificate at their first supervision session each year.
